The psychology of your Trade Show Exhibit is a serious study. Yes, psychology. For over 15 years, we ourself have exhibited at Wedding Trade Shows. Nearly 60 per year with about an average attendance of 100 people in a room for a 3 hour period walking through looking at vendors and the experience and knowledge of the human psychology comes into play. Simple in conclusion but many layers in understanding many variables. For example, in a room that a Trade Show is happening that is small in size, basically think of a Wedding Venue location, fits about 400 people. Just looking and knowing the room you will exhibit in will help you in many ways. How far apart are the vendors from each other? Is the walkway where attendees walk wide or narrow? If its a smaller size room, its more intimate and having a sardine can style walkway is much better than a wide space for attendees to casually walk through. Why? Because attendees are often unsure of what to do, so they walk through until they gain comfort in approaching vendors. So in a situation like this when the pathway is narrow they are more likely to approach your table seeing as they are an arm’s reach away. If the same case happens but the walkway is further away where an attendee may be about 10ft away from your booth they can easily skip by you without feeling obligated to stop by. So how you design your booth where an attendee can see clearly what you do makes it at least a better vetting process for them to come to you because you may offer something they want. Even debating on where to stand in your booth. Do you stand in front of your table? Maybe yes and you hand out your marketing piece. This however sometimes backfires as you give them your marketing, they may feel less obligated to listen to you, instead they feel like they did their part by taking your marketing and move on.
